A few months back we announced projects bringing Intermax fiber internet to areas in the Purcell Trench by the end of the year. Fiber is now lit up in Twin Lakes and Spirit Lake, with Hauser Lake and along Highway 54 to Athol projected in February. After more than 10,000 construction hours our teams are now switching fiber on for hundreds of customers in these areas. Excited friends and neighbors continue signing up daily!

Intermax Fiber Service Areas, end of 2024
Addresses on the following roads should see customer installations beginning in the next 45 days (weather permitting):
Spirit Bend Ave, Gray Eagle, Nikoma, Graf, Grouse, Mad Moose Trail, N. Constitution, N Hamilton, N Vista View, W. Charlies Place, W. Skiptooth, Calabria, McWilliams, Carrie, Ghost Rider, Rourke, Nautical Loop, Seasons Road (excluding Cooper and Lone Mountain Trail)
In February our team will connect fiber to neighborhoods on both sides of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad line. This crucial track section funnels all rail traffic between Sandpoint and Spokane past the Hauser Refueling Facility, and approximately 32 transcontinental trains pass every day. The tunnel we bore lets our network move gigabits of electronic traffic right alongside tons of daily American rail freight, giving us a nerdy little thrill!
Our goal is to provide fiber internet to every property within our project boundaries. However, many rural areas were developed around private roads, necessitating a license with each property owner before we can access the land and reach homes. While our team is diligent with outreach, some areas are missing agreements and remain blocked from construction. You can help by encouraging neighbors to respond and contact us!
Areas with missing private road access agreements include: Howard Road, Nunn, Good Hope, Perimeter Road, Crowe Road
Spotted Horse and Treeport areas are slated for this spring, summer, and fall, depending on private road permissions.
The preliminary work has begun for the Selle Valley area near Sandpoint with the first customer installations anticipated for late summer. Private road outreach has started for private road laterals off of Highway 200 and surrounding areas of Rucker Rd and the private roads in the Sunnyside area including W. Shore Ln, American Ln, Lost Horse Ln, Esther Ln, Jeffries Ln, Farkle Flats Rd, Sunnyside Hill Rd, Deer Ridge Rd. You can help by encouraging neighbors to respond and contact us!
And finally, teams have been managing winter’s effects in the field. December windstorms caused utility power outages, but new backup systems at our fixed wireless locations kept Intermax customers up. Just after the new year, a broken fiber connection brought service down for Schweitzer Mountain customers. Our team dug through 12 feet of snow, located the break, and had it back up and running that same evening. Who says operating a rural network isn’t exciting?
