Fiber internet is here for northern Idaho and eastern Washington! Your Intermax Networks team has been busy bringing the fastest, most reliable internet available to more than 5,300 homes in underserved rural communities. And your area could be next since we’re helping to bridge the digital divide with this fiber-optic network by reaching nearly 10,000 more homes over the next 18 months.

In August, Intermax completed new fiber-optic projects in Kootenai County and Bonner County, adding to our growing presence in Washington’s Lincoln County and the city of Clarkston. Right now, we’re hard at work bringing even more families online in Idaho’s Spirit Lake, Brookshire Estates, and Twin Lakes Village. We’re also extending service to communities along Highway 54 and Hauser Lake by the end of the year, with plans for the Selle Valley area near Sandpoint set to begin in 2025.

Fiber internet, also known as fiber-optic internet, is a broadband connection that uses fiber-optic cables to deliver 1000Mbps of internet speed directly into your home. Fiber-optic cables run underground or on telephone poles, so they are less susceptible to interference from geography, satellite position, cellular tower coverage, or geography. A gigabit connection at home means unmatched reliability and consistency for smart home devices, streaming video, gaming, and remote work.

Intermax fiber can free you from weak internet, but don’t take our word for it. Robert Garner of Rathdrum says, “Over the years I have tried just about every possible way to get internet service — dial-up, DSL, Cable TV, Verizon’s 3G/4G, and T-Mobile’s 5G cellular wireless. Finally, Intermax Networks comes to the rescue with fiber to the home! My wife and I have gone from continual frustration with the internet to the point that now we almost take it for granted. Our internet service just works GREAT, it’s always rock-solid. Both of us can be on separate online meetings or streaming music/movies or whatever else and the service just works without any hassle. I haven’t even noticed a hiccup in our service since it was installed over 2 months ago”.

“Nationwide providers have neglected hard-to-reach areas and rural communities,” said Intermax Networks CEO Mike Kennedy. “Our friends and neighbors deserve better, and we’re excited to build fast, affordable connectivity that unlocks opportunities in entertainment, education, telemedicine, and remote work.”

This new construction is partially made possible by the Idaho Office of Broadband. State Broadband Director Ramón S. Hobdey-Sánchez says, “Funding fiber network construction in rural Idaho not only boosts local economies but improves the quality of life and opportunities for those residents. Strong partners like Intermax are crucial to successfully delivering broadband to Idaho communities.”
