Intermax Insights Mobile App
We’ve customized the Calix CommandIQ mobile app to work with the Calix Gigaspire router and the Intermax network. This app runs on your phone to manage your home network, including basic management controls.

What is Fiber Internet, and how is it different from other types of internet?
Fiber internet is a high-speed internet technology that uses fiber-optic cables to transmit data as light signals rather than relying on electrical signals through copper or coaxial cables. This enables incredibly fast and reliable data transfer, making it one of the best internet options available today.
Fiber internet uses thin strands of glass or plastic (fiber-optic cables) to transmit data. These cables carry information at nearly the speed of light, allowing for faster and more efficient internet connections compared to traditional methods.
What equipment is required for Fiber Internet, and is it provided by Intermax?
Once fiber is run to your house, installation includes our Home Equipment (router and mobile app) and an on-location setup appointment.
What are the speed options available for Fiber Internet?
Intermax has 3 different speed options 400Mbps, 600Mbps and 1Gig. These speeds will allow you to do anything you need with your internet. Anything more than 1Gb is pure marketing.
Is there a data cap on Fiber Internet plans?
No, Intermax does not have data caps on our internet plans.
How do I know if Fiber Internet is available in my area?

Why do I see fiber sometimes advertised for less?
If you’ve relocated from a large city or a different state, you may have had access to fiber for a lower monthly cost. Intermax fiber serves a relatively small number of customers, but the cable is still connected right to your house. Providing this service in the country costs more than providing it in an urban location where a fiber cable can serve hundreds of customers in a single city block.
What if I have Dish, DirecTV, or Starlink?
Replacing satellite internet with Intermax fiber means no contracts, data caps, buffering, or surprise fees. The performance is constant, steady, and solid for both uploads and downloads, so you can sync those high-res vacation photos and videos without prompting shouts from another room. In addition, you can choose your favorite streaming content provider(s) and pay only for content you want instead of fixed packages with channels you never watch.
What if I have Spectrum or TDS?
Nationwide cable Internet providers rely on older generation copper wires designed to carry simple television signals to millions of customer homes. Television providers often bundle content in limited packages with automatic price increases. Intermax fiber offers unlimited content options, fixed pricing, and astonishing speeds. What if I don’t know anything about subscription streaming services?

What if I already have a streaming service?
That’s great! Existing accounts with providers like HBO Max, Peacock, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Fubo, ESPN, or Disney+ will work even better over a fiber connection. And you can always add or subtract content providers with no Internet service fees or price changes. Bring on the watch parties!
How fast is fiber?
Traditional DSL, cable, and satellite all average less than 100 megabits per second (Mbps). Fiber connections move data at 1 gigabit (1000Mbps) both to and from your devices, which means fiber is at least 10 times faster both up AND down. What can I do with a fiber connection?
Anything you do with a cable (Spectrum, TDS), or satellite provider (Dish, DirectTV, Starlink) – but as much as 10x faster, for all household devices, and for both upload and download. Video conference as if you were in the office or make smooth, satisfying family video chats. Stream sporting events from any league in the world using the streaming service of your choice. Drop gaming latency and ping times below 10 milliseconds. Work remotely or connect to the classroom without missing a download or a save.
Who services Intermax Fiber, and can I get help when I need it?
We do! We’re headquartered in Coeur d’Alene and customers rave about our local support teams. You may have seen our fiber installation teams busy working in your neighborhood. When you call you reach people that live and work in these communities, and our service techs can come to your house to support you in person.
How does installation work on my property?
Generally, it works like this: our team brings the fiber optic cable from the street to a small box on your home’s exterior. Typically, the cable is dug underground but occasionally comes through the air from a pole. We add power and convert the fiber cable to an Ethernet connection in a box inside of your home, then connect our router or you may use your own. Obviously, some sites are more challenging, but we’ll do our best to meet your needs. It’s important to note that if you live on a private road, we may need permission from all parties before we can complete the installation.
What if fiber isn’t available to my property?
Customers who are not within reach of a fiber cable love their Intermax fixed wireless connections. This technology sends microwave radio signals from nearby mountaintop radio towers down to an antenna on or near your house. If the mountain is in sight, you can see speeds up to 100MBps that are still much faster than DSL, Cable, or Satellite. Call us to inquire about a site survey.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my Fiber Internet plan at any time?
Yes, you are welcome to change your bandwidth at any time to meet your household’s needs. Just call our sales team and they will be happy to assist you.
Does Fiber Internet require a long-term contract?
No. We believe in earning your business every month, so we don’t have contracts. You can cancel at any time; we only ask that you give us a 30-day notice as a courtesy.
Does fiber work for gaming?
YES. Gaming subscriptions and content like Xbox Game Pass, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Plus, and Amazon Luna all run beautifully over fiber. In fact, a device might be able to run on fiber out to the internet faster than to another device inside your own home network!
Can you help me optimize my home network and all of my devices?
Yes. We won’t leave the installation until you are connected and running strong. We recommend adding an Intermax router to your subscription to include security and network management tools that let us help keep you and your family up and running safely. Can I place a seasonal hold on my service?
Yes. You can place a seasonal hold on your service at any time; we only ask that you give us a 30-day notice as a courtesy.
